useful information about the location
The Hofgarten is Düsseldorf’s central park. It is situated in the city centre, in the Stadtmitte and Pempelfort districts, and covers a total area of 27.73 hectares, 13 of which are meadows. The park stretches from Jacobistraße, with Jägerhof Palace and the adjacent Malkastenpark, to Heinrich-Heine-Allee in the Old Town, and from Königsallee to the Ehrenhof on the banks of the Rhine. Numerous historical monuments and modern sculptures enliven the park, which, in terms of design, marks the transition from the Baroque garden style to the English landscape garden. The oldest part of the public Hofgarten was laid out as early as 1769. This makes Düsseldorf’s Hofgarten Germany’s first and oldest public park.
