That was our
festival year 2024

FRIDA, the muse of live Eva Duda Dance Company

After three eventful weeks, this year’s festival ended on September 30 – with a total of 40 sold-out performances in 13 venues and over 21,000 enthusiastic visitors.

Festival director Christiane Oxenfort: “I’m just happy that the festival went so well. In the end, everything worked out exactly as we had imagined. The positive reactions from the audience, sponsors and supporters – to whom our special thanks go – were overwhelming.”

Festival director Andreas Dahmen: “The feedback from all the artists, bands and contributors was great. Everyone was more than impressed by our interested, open and enthusiastic audience and was also very pleased with the loving care of our team of almost 100 people.”

The next Düsseldorf Festival promises to make the city resound once again for its 35th anniversary.

Highlights
2024

“The extent to which the Hungarian choreographer and ten exquisite dance athletes captivate and inspire the audience with this musical mix of styles was evident from the rapturous ovations after their Frida Kahlo show in the packed concert tent. A visually intense collage of the sufferings and loves of an artist.”

Play Dead, People Watching

“The artfully choreographed final act picks up on the longing for touch and intimacy. In pairs, the six from People Watching bundle and entwine themselves in a final intoxicating dance. Frenetic applause for this highlight of the festival.”

RP about „Play Dead“, 14.09.2024

“No concert hall in the world can convey such an experience. Individual piano notes are barely audible. It is a cloud of sounds that flies around your ears. It’s hard to describe the mental movie. You recognize wind, machine noises, buzzing insects, sacred moments, thunder, rain, a low-flying plane or a spaceship. If you close your eyes, you take off into a strange world full of new sounds. Sometimes quiet, sometimes loud and with tempo changes to boot, you enjoy every second of this acoustic spectacle with great surges and very quiet moments.”

Abenteuer Ruhrpott about „11.000 Saiten“, 16.09.2024

„‘11 000 Saiten und 50 Klaviere‘ is what Klangforum Wien calls its expansive project – probably the most spectacular that the festival organizers have ever brought to the Rhine.”

WZ about „11.000 Saiten“, 16.09.2024

“It’s good that the Düsseldorf Festival is cooperating with Hofesh Shechter. This is the only way to see the up-and-coming company of the popular London-based choreographer of Israeli origin. And they are bursting with energy and the joy of dance – even in their latest work ‘From England with Love’ ”

RP about „From England with Love“, 18.09.2024

„“Unique. What a beautiful, inspiring evening.”

The Mirror - Gravity & Other Myths

“The artists celebrate their art almost casually: somersaulting from a standing position, climbing into the air and collapsing smoothly, darting through the air like a fish through water. The fascinated audience is carried away. Frenetic cheering.”

RP about „The Mirror“, 20.09.2024
Elina Albach mit Continuum

“Text and music fit together perfectly, everything is plausibly interlinked and effectively staged. A rare combination of old and new elements in this quality of acting, singing and text, which is appropriately rewarded by the audience after more than two hours with shouts of bravo and standing ovations.”

RP about „Continuum“, 28.09.2024
