Useful information
about the performance

Dialect is just as much a part of one’s homeland as music that tells of landscapes, moods and customs, or evokes local dances. The wind quintet led by the French flautist Eva Salinesi has put together a programme of music from France and Mexico, the home of bassoonist Brisa Lopez. The result is a colourful mix. The programme features two movements from Claude Debussy’s ‘Petite Suite’ and a selection from George Bizet’s ‘Carmen Suite’ – which, via a detour through Spain, builds a bridge to Latin America, so to speak. Representing Mexico and its fiery yet melancholic music is Arturo Márquez, whose ‘Danza de Mediodía’ meets Manuel Ponce’s famous ‘Estrellita’. The Mundartfreunde provide a strong Rhineland counterpoint with a selection of texts.
