The Udo Klopke Band has won several awards, including three German Rock and Pop Awards, as well as the WDR2 song contest ‘Die beste Band im Westen’. With several albums to his name – most recently the highly acclaimed “The King is Dead” – Klopke regularly tours throughout Germany with his band and is equally at home in intimate clubs and on large festival stages. Last year, the band played over 50 concerts, taking them from Hamburg to Heidelberg and from Krefeld to Berlin. Their musical spectrum ranges from rock and pop to reggae, blues and world music; the songs deal with life’s moments, both big and small. Klopke’s credo is: “A song should always tell its own story; that’s the most important thing. I’m actually a travelling singer who takes to the stage, with his little bits of wisdom and experiences, and sings his songs. About sailing round the world, beautiful Bedouin daughters, about love, and about not being loved in return.”
