Jazz singer Charlotte Illinger is at home in the style of the American Songbook. After completing her Bachelor’s degree at the Prins Claus Conservatorium in Groningen, she graduated with distinction in 2022 with a Master’s degree from the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen. Illinger is now one of the most prominent jazz singers and feels a particular affinity for the authentic jazz vibe of the 1950s and 1960s. The Trio Indigo is a group that, although it has been playing together for more than a quarter of a century, embodies contemporary jazz in every moment. And when Charlotte Illinger switches to scat, she holds her own as a fourth instrument. Among the awards Illinger has already won are the ‘Jugend jazzt’ prize, the Haestens Jazz Award and the prestigious German Record Critics’ Award.
