The Düsseldorf-based pianist Tilo Bunnies began taking classical piano lessons at the age of eight and developed a particular passion for jazz from an early age. He lived in California for twelve years, where he performed at numerous major festivals and won first prize at the prestigious Pacific Coast Jazz Festi
val in Berkeley in 1991. His musical role models include the pianists Art Tatum, Oscar Peterson, Cedar Walton and Monty Alexander. He is accompanied at the Theaterbar by Konstantin Wienstroer on bass – a well-established figure on the local and international jazz scene, renowned for his virtuoso solos – and by the Wuppertal-based drummer Tim Heinz, whose role models include Jeff Hamilton and Joe Morello.
