Useful information
about the performance
For the third time now, the Sunday Organ series offers the chance to experience an unexpected combination: organ music and dance merge to create a unique musical performance.
Father Thomas Möller from the Dominican monastery and choreographer Daniel Smith are this time focusing on Marcel Dupré’s ‘Kreuzweg / Chemin de la Croix’, which is inspired by the key events in the life of Jesus. Dupré’s work ranks among the most significant compositions for the organ of the 20th century. Stylistically rooted in the French school of organ symphony, Dupré created here the free form of organ meditation, which draws on biblical events or liturgical texts and was later further developed by Olivier Messiaen.
