Rarely has an album been so unanimously acclaimed as 2020’s “Source” by London saxophonist and composer Nubya Garcia. The New York Times, for example, heard “a lifetime of experiences in one hour”. Prestigious awards and major tours followed, including a US tour in 2022 in sold-out, legendary halls. Garcia enjoyed a classical education, first learning the violin and viola before taking up the saxophone at the age of ten and studying jazz. Nubya Garcia is part of the buzzing London scene that is making jazz accessible to a younger generation that has had little exposure to the genre through her modern sound, combining the jazz tradition with danceable and club-ready musical influences from British youth cultures.
