Useful information
about the performance
Founded in 2020, People Watching is a collective of six multidisciplinary artists based in Montreal. They fuse electrifying acrobatics with elements of physical theatre and subtle choreographic work. The young formation is very much supported by the well-known company Les 7 doigt, who were once again represented at last year’s festival. People Watching’s first creation “Play Dead” opens up a universe rich in imagery and presents the beautiful, twisted and ridiculous facets of human behaviour in surreal scenes full of poetry. “Play Dead” celebrates the absurdity of the everyday and the insatiable desire for connection and intimacy.

Francoise Boudreault, CLIQUEZ CIRQUE
"Put your hat on with a pin, the collective People Watching will sweep you into a vortex of high intensity. Play Dead is a brilliantly interpreted creation with a flow that is fuelled by the stage action, the danced acrobatics and the acrobatic dance, but also by a theatricality created by the stage design and the acting."

“They have taken the art of clowning and theatrical absurdity to a level that, like the circus, defies gravitx and embraces risk as well as the bold intimacy of physical trust and interdependence.”
