about the performance
The Ensemble provocale under the direction of its founder Sebastian Voges is a regular guest at the festival. Once again, a creatively conceived programme is heard that takes us far back into the time of the Babylonian captivity of the Israelites. The concert begins with haunting laments of longing for Jerusalem and songs of consolation for flight and expulsion. But it does not stop at the lament, for the programme also celebrates coming home, among other things with “Wie lieblich sind deine Wohnungen, Herr Zebaoth” from Brahms’ German Requiem. The a cappella choir is supported by the orchestral sounds from the button accordion of Ukrainian virtuoso Andrey Golski.
