to the job

The internship in the stage team (10 people) focuses on event technology – stage, lighting and sound, video and camera technology, as well as setting up and maintaining the infrastructure. The Stage Team offers the opportunity to try out technical skills (no matter what previous knowledge you have) and, with curiosity, courage and energy, gain a wealth of experience in the practical application of technology. Theoretical introductions and direct practical application in the implementation of the event go hand in hand: Basics of electrical installations

  • Introduction to cable management, explanation of fuse boxes and practical cable management in the festival tent and outdoor venues

Lighting and sound technology for theatre and concerts

  • Tutorials on various lamps, loudspeakers and mixing consoles as well as on the optimal illumination of stage situations, with small test setups and, if necessary, supervision of smaller events

Video technology and social media

  • Working with professional cameras, event recording and social media videos as well as editing small videos you have produced yourself

Infrastructure and logistics

  • Handling tools and materials from various trades, for a comprehensive insight into the infrastructure of event venues. In particular logistics, installation of water and electricity as well as wood and metal processing.

Stage Hands on stage

  • Work directly on and behind the stage, for the individual realisation of each event, with international artists (if necessary also in English)

All this and much more, depending on the requirements and personal interests of the individual team players. We can help you find accommodation.

Your expectations:

Are you ready to commit to culture for a few weeks? Would you like your efforts to pay off for you personally and individually? Would you like your efforts to pay off for you personally and individually? Do you enjoy team spirit and new contacts? Would you like to contribute your own ideas, help implement them and achieve results? Do you expect an internship to help you get ahead?

We will do our best to offer you plenty of variety and give you lots of practical insights into the whole festival operation – and you should also be able to experience the varied programme on stage.

We encourage you to take on responsibility in changing teams, to be responsible for very different locations and events and, above all, to test yourselves and try out lots of new things.

We offer the space to grow together as a team and to make many new contacts – both nationally and internationally.

We look forward to your perspectives – your individual ideas and previous knowledge will make every festival year unique.

We share numerous job offers with you – if you like. Former interns have found their way into cultural work and are now working in a wide range of cultural organisations and jobs.

You will be accompanied by experienced and motivated colleagues who are keen to give you as much experience and career prospects as possible during this time.

Our expectations:

  • Willingness to make a tangible commitment to an ambitious cultural project.
  • Desire for strong teamwork.
  • Enjoy technical or organisational challenges.
  • enough self-confidence to drive through Düsseldorf in our festival cars.

You should also be aware that

  • working in a festival can sometimes be very strenuous and demanding because many things have to be done at the same time and under time pressure.
  • working hours often have to be based on requirements.
  • the festival centre is like a universe of its own into which you can immerse yourself for a few weeks.
  • it may well be that you decide in favour of or against working in the cultural sector after the festival.

If that doesn’t put you off, but perhaps excites you even more – then an internship with us could be just the thing for you.
