Without exaggeration, the Mare Nostrum trio could be described as a troika of European jazz: The Sardinian trumpeter Paolo Fresu, the French accordionist Richard Galliano and the Swedish pianist Jan Lundgren joined forces 18 years ago and represent both the musical traditions of their respective home countries and modern international jazz that crosses borders and combines genres. Their fourth CD was released in March, for which each of them contributed four original compositions and a favourite piece. The result is a touching testimony to the affinity between the three musicians and their equal community in the spirit of a democratic Europe.
