According to singer Marvin Becker, the trio Marvinius came about as follows: “A jazz spirit gets lost in a Berlin techno loft, stumbles across a Moog, falls on an 808 pattern and shouts: ‘I think we’re making pop now!” The result is music somewhere between sound lab, pop stage and parallel reality, which is fuelled by electronic beats that sometimes sound like hip-hop, sometimes like house. And from “improvisations as wild as a raccoon in a record shop”, says Marvin Becker. And in between, warm keys, fine grooves and vocals can be heard when pop and poetry meet at
Marvinius. Becker studied jazz singing, was passionate about jazz and soul music from the 60s and 70s for a long time and is known for his extraordinary vocal improvisation.
