Leo Betzl on piano, Maximilian Hirning on double bass and Sebastian Wolfgruber on drums form the piano trio LBT, which has dedicated itself to a purely acoustically generated style of techno. The bold adaptation results in very lively techno. Without computers or synthesisers, the trio produces endless sets that are otherwise only known from techno clubs. LBT’s sound is multi-faceted, always driven by a pulsating kick drum, from lyrical to minimal, from deep to industrial. Having grown up in the tradition of modern jazz, the trio also takes their love of improvisation very seriously. Their music, which is both very danceable and meditative, sees itself as a journey inwards.
