about the performance
The multidisciplinary and experimental Conceptus Ensemble is dedicated to major works and song cycles of the 19th and 20th centuries. Its members come from the United Kingdom, Poland, and Australia. The artistic director of the ensemble, founded in 2021, is singer and actor Scott Robert Shaw from Perth. The ensemble has set out to breathe fresh life into late Romantic works with forays into the 21st century. Their debut album, “Gods, Ghosts and Monsters,” brought together music by George Butterworth, Gustav Holst, Frank Bridge, and Timothy Collins. His song cycle “Die Rilke-Lieder” and another new composition, “…meditationis crucis…” by composer and church musician Christoph Ritter, will be premiered in this concert.
