Useful information
about the performance
The 2013 show “Knitting Peace” by Cirkus Cirkör, the largest ensemble of its kind in Northern Europe, has long since become a classic. The troupe’s original appeal could be described as “knitting for peace”, which triggered an overwhelming response: from Iceland to South Africa, thousands of self-knitted originals from peacemakers arrived. Inspired by this, the show, driven by a live musician, explores what is possible with giant balls of yarn, fine threads, thick cords and bulky knots. Set in a white world, the performers use their own bodies as knitting needles. In their mysterious cavernous cosmos of yarn and giant crochet hooks, the five-member troupe seems constructive one minute, destructive the next, or even both at the same time.
