Useful information
about the performance
Ulrich Brall, founder and long-time director of the choir community of the Andreaskirche and the Görres-Gymnasium died in November 2013 at the age of 68. On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of his death, his successor Martin Fratz reconstructs the last festival concert programme of this legendary figure of Düsseldorf’s musical life during his lifetime. The programme includes Gabriel Fauré’s “Requiem” and the Concerto for Organ, Timpani and Strings by Francis Poulenc. This exciting combination is complemented by works that played an important role in Ulrich Brall’s life, such as the Adagio for Strings by his teacher Clemens Ingenhoven. Martin Fratz conducts the choir and orchestra of St. Andrew’s Church, the solo part in Poulenc’s organ concerto is taken by the long-time St. Andrew’s cantor Frank Volke.
