Dimitrios Sapountzis shoots touching documentary about the Düsseldorf Festival

The premiere took place on Thursday at the Cinema in Düsseldorf’s old town. Around 30 invited guests, journalists, employees and friends of the festival came to Schneider-Wibbel-Gasse in Düsseldorf to experience the premiere of the almost half-hour documentary “Behind the Curtain – How to Düsseldorf Festival” by the two Düsseldorf filmmakers Dimitri Sapountzis and Jan-Philip Stahl. Sapountzis filmed behind and in front of the scenes during the 2023 festival and conducted lengthy interviews with the two artistic directors. The result is a touching film about the courageous start in the early nineties and the perseverance in the following years to overcome the highs and lows of the cultural enterprise. A film about the lifeblood, commitment and dedication of the festival’s many longstanding supporters. Click here for the whole film.
