Behind the
curtain – How to
Düsseldorf Festival

The half-hour documentary “Hinter dem Vorhang – How to Düsseldorf Festival” by Düsseldorf filmmakers Dimitri Sapountzis and Jan-Philip Stahl was made during the 2023 festival. Sapountzis filmed behind the scenes during the festival and conducted lengthy interviews with the two artistic directors. The result is a touching work about the courageous beginnings in the early nineties and the perseverance required in the following years to overcome the ups and downs of the cultural enterprise. A film about the passion, commitment, and dedication of the festival’s many, mostly long-standing collaborators.
